Born in Reading (USA!), I was brought up in a small suburban town with big roads, big houses and big gardens. Or so they seemed when I was little! America in the 70’s was a fun place for a kid to grow up but what I remember most is the weather. In the summer, it was blisteringly hot and in the winter, there was so much snow that we didn’t just build a snowman but an entire whale! It was therefore quite an adjustment moving back to mainland Europe, to Germany, where I spent the rest of my childhood.
Then, at the tender of age of 12, we moved to England where I’m currently still residing. So, as you can see, I was bitten by the travel bug from an early age onwards and I still can’t get enough! From Salzburg to Sienna and Montreal to Marrakesh, I have visited many places over the years. But I could always squeeze in another visit to New York for example, as there are some cities you could return to over and over again without ever getting bored. And what makes these places so interesting is the great diversity of people and their cultures.
Another aspect, which also rings true for my home city London, is that there seems to be a never-ending amount of things to see and do. London itself is an intriguing blend of time-honoured heritage and modern-day attractions and events, which makes it a great place for anyone to visit and live in. I am therefore ashamed to admit that I have not yet been up the London Eye, so watch this space!
